Peru boasts some of the most spectacular scenery in South America, verdant rain-forests, snow-capped volcanoes, deep canyons and arid desert coastline.

Many a journey to Peru begins at sea level in the colonial capital of Lima, founded by spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro in 1535 and was once considered the most important city in South America. The ancient capital of Cuzco is a splendid fusion of Incan and colonial architecture, its cobblestone streets home to Incan buildings, churches and museums as well as exciting nightlife, restaurants and bars. Cuzco is the perfect stepping stone to exploration of the sacred valley and the fascinating towns of PĂsac, Maras, Chinchero, and Ollantaytambo. From here step aboard the the Hiram Bingham train and visit the Lost City of Machu Picchu. Other more intrepid visitors will follow in the footsteps of the ancient's and hike the Inca Trail. As you step through the legendary Sun Gate after days spent traversing the narrow pathways that carve their way through the incredible scenery you will be rewarded with a sight that is simply jaw-dropping.

In the foothills of the magnificent El Misti volcano lies the white city of Arequipa. A UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site, the city is often the base from which to experience the Colca Valley its colourful agricultural terraces, tiny villages and breathtaking canyon. Approximately 11,000 feet deep at its lowest point it is twice as deep as the Grand Canyon and is home to the magnificent Condor. Visits to the Colca Valley often include a stop at the popular 'Cruz del Condor', where you can see these amazing birds soaring gracefully on the rising thermals as they hunt for their prey. Other popular attractions include a flight over the mystical Nazca Lines, a luxury cruise through Peru's northern Amazon or stay on the shores of Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world and home to the unique floating reed islands of Uros.

Regardless of your itinerary, Peru is a truly fascinating country that will surely leave you with memories to last a lifetime.
