A UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site, the city is often the base from which to experience the Colca Valley its colourful agricultural terraces, tiny villages and breathtaking canyon. Approximately 11,000 feet deep at its lowest point it is twice as deep as the Grand Canyon and is home to the magnificent Condor. Visits to the Colca Valley often include a stop at the popular 'Cruz del Condor', where you can see these amazing birds soaring gracefully on the rising thermals as they hunt for their prey.
