Taj Hotels, India’s leading hotel company, could not have picked a more idyllic location for their Maldives showpiece, the Taj Exotica Resort & Spa. This stunning island home is surrounded by turquoise waters that dominate the views of most of the villas which adopt a very natural architectural style mirrored through the extensive use of bamboo, timber and palm thatch.
Most of the sixty two villas rest on stilts above the crystal clear waters of the lagoon. Guests can choose between twin or single unit villas, all boasting sea-facing bathtubs and a private sundeck with steps down into the shallow waters. The single villas look out towards the sea for maximum privacy, whilst the suite sits right at the very end of the pier. Six beach villas are secreted away amidst the natural vegetation, all of them with outdoor tropical garden bathrooms and their own private plunge pools. All villas include air-conditioning, LCD TV / DVD player and in-villa entertainment system. Some of the lagoon villa's also boast private plunge pools.
Whilst the resort is just a 15 minute speedboat ride away from the main island of Male, the feeling of detached luxury and peaceful tranquillity is to be savoured. Of course there are many diversions to occupy those fleeting moments between complete inaction, when guests can take advantage of the PADI-recognised Dive Centre, the overwater Taj spa, the infinity-edge swimming pool, snorkeling trips as well as watersports and yoga. The main restaurant 24 Degrees serves Continental and Pan-Asian cuisine, whilst The Deep End restaurant offers a variety of a la carte seafood and meats with Mediterranean flavours.
