Originally opened in 1912, the Hotel Astoria is ideally located in the centre of St Petersburg overlooking the landmark St Isaac’s cathedral and within easy walking distance of the world famous Hermitage museum and Mariinsky Theatre.

The hotel has had a long and colourful history. Now a proud member of Rocco Forte Hotels, the Astoria has undergone a multi-million dollar refurbishment with fabulous new furnishings and colour schemes by Olga Polizzi, thus restoring the Astoria to its former glory as the premier hotel of St. Petersburg. Founded in 1703 by Peter the Great and built on the delta of the River Neva on the coast of the Gulf of Finland, it has a network of scenic canals running through its centre. These have earned the city its reputation as the Venice of the North, with a total of 68 tributary rivers and canals and 349 bridges throughout the city.
